Walleye's river cousin: stained water, slow deep pools and sand/gravel bottoms of larger rivers.

Spring
Stacks below rapids and dams after the spawn — small jigs tipped with minnows, worked slow.
Summer
Sits deeper than walleye (8–15 m) in turbid water; drag bottom bouncers at crawling speed.
Fall
Schools tighten in the deepest river pools; vertical jig with grubs or minnows.
Winter
A regular bonus on river-mouth walleye ice spots — downsize the spoon, stay on bottom.
