No. Ontario Fish Finder is an independent project built using public data sources. Always confirm seasons, limits, sanctuaries, and waterbody exceptions in the official Ontario Fishing Regulations Summary before your trip.

Use the species filter on the map, or choose a species in the lake directory. You can also open a species guide and follow its link to matching lakes. Records describe known observations; they do not guarantee a catch.

Data coverage varies by lake and source. Depth, access, stocking, and fish records may not be available for every waterbody. A missing species record does not mean that species is absent.

Some information comes from saved dataset snapshots; other information is requested from online services. Update schedules and availability vary. A snapshot date is not a new lake survey, and saved offline information may be older. Check the original source when freshness matters.

Start with the fishing zone for your destination, then confirm the official regulations and any waterbody-specific exceptions. The site’s summaries are a planning aid and do not replace the official rules.

Send the lake name, its location or page link, and a short description of what looks wrong. Include a source link if you have one so the report is easier to check.

Some features can work offline after they have loaded successfully. Starred lake snapshots, locally saved catches and waypoints, and cached information can remain available on that device. Map backgrounds depend on the areas and zoom levels already cached. Test your chosen lakes offline before your trip.

While connected, open the map and let your chosen lake details finish loading. Star the lakes you want to revisit, then test them with your device offline. Saved detail depends on what loaded successfully. Clearing browser data or browser storage eviction can remove saved information.

Live weather and water-level updates, new map tiles, information that has not been saved, and account syncing require a connection. Reconnect to refresh information and check the latest official sources before your trip.

Yes. Open the map in your phone’s browser and use its home-screen or installation option. The How It Works page has separate instructions for Android with Chrome and iPhone with Safari.

Open a lake’s information panel on the map and select the star. Let the lake details load first if you plan to use the saved snapshot offline. Select the star again to remove the favourite.

No. Favourites, catches, and waypoints can be saved in your browser without an account. They stay on that browser and device, so export a separate copy before clearing browser data or changing phones.

An optional free account lets you sync favourites, catches, and waypoints when connected. Sign in to the same account on each device and allow syncing to finish before relying on the information elsewhere.
